FDA Issues Letter on Promotion of Off-Label Use of Drugs and Devices | January 2009

This FDA letter clarifies their position on the distribution of publications that discuss unapproved new uses for drugs and medical devices, i.e. "off-label use". Consultant pharmacists often need to back up their recommendations or help a facility justify the use of medications off-label when queried by surveyors in LTC facilities.
